London’s Westminster Abbey is about to get a style makeover.
Gucci confirmed yesterday that it will show its cruise 2017 collection in the cloisters at Westminster Abbey on June 2, making it the first ever fashion house to host a runway show at the historic location.
“Creative director Alessandro Michele has chosen one of London’s most historic and beautiful settings,” read a statement from the brand released yesterday. Last year, Gucci’s cruise collection was staged in an urban environment at the DIA-Art Foundation in New York.
While we will see the first cloisters catwalk this coming June, the abbey has seen a number of highly anticipated events in the past, including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding five years ago.
