Simply Divo-licious! Bugatti unveils its latest model in California at “The Quail-A Motorsports Gathering”. The new Divo sounds more like a male version of a Diva. Its name is actually derived from a French racing driver and two-times Targa Floria winner Albert Divo back in 1926-1927.
Last year, I was lucky enough to get driven around the streets near Bugatti’s French factory in Molsheim in some of their previous models, including the Veyron and the Chiron. Divo’s predecessor Chiron was the fastest road car on the planet with 0-400-0 km/h in 42 secs on the straight.
With Divo, it has significantly higher performance in terms of lateral acceleration, agility and cornering. They’ve added sophisticated programming, modifications to the chassis and suspension as well as weight reduction to make the Divo a star performer on corners. The Divo is 35kg lighter than the Chiron and has 90kg more downforce than the Chiron, a higher lateral acceleration of 1.6g, maximum speed limited to 380 km/h and 8 seconds faster lap time on the Nardo handling circuit than the Chiron. You’re probably thinking: ‘it’s just eight seconds’. But in motor racing, eight seconds is a life time!
I am delighted to tell you that with a small production strictly limited 40 vehicles and a net unit price of 5 million euros, all 40 cars have already been sold. There’s one thing for sure, there’s two things you can’t buy even with money: the first is ‘love’ and the other would be a Bugatti, you little Divo!
