Calling all gamer Blinks – this is not a drill: after a teaser-filled week, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) has officially announced an upcoming collaboration with none other than Blackpink.
Taking to its social media accounts, PUBG Corporation‘s hit online multiplayer battle royale game revealed that the global K-pop sensation will be gracing their mobile platform. Prior to this collaboration, Blackpink had already established a presence in the mobile application when PUBG added their song “Playing With Fire” into the game last July.
The announcement of this collaboration came in the form of a pink-tastic poster, which spotlighted all four Blackpink members in the iconic black dresses from their “How You Like That” music video surrounded by PUBG Mobile elements such as the Spetsnaz helmet and cargo plane. A huge crate printed with a pink jeweled crown stands beside them, a symbol of their upcoming full-length album titled “The Album” dropping this October.
Yesterday, the PUBG character IDs of Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosie were unveiled on social media. Whether the fans could see them play the game in a show-match as Tencent has done with other celebrities in the past remains unknown. Other earlier teasers also hint at a Blackpink-themed airdrop box, a pink car and the Blackpink’s official lightstick hammer “Bl-ping-bong” as an official game weapon.
Recently, the powerhouse girl group released their newest hit single “Ice Cream” with Selena Gomez, which ranked 13th on the Billboard Hot 100 list after it’s debut, marking the highest position ever taken by a K-pop girl group on Billboard’s main chart.
