If you’ve ever dreamed of racing down a circuit in an Audi R8, now is your chance. Audi Hong Kong has debuted the all new Audi R8 V10 and R8 V10 Plus in Hong Kong, and fans can now drive it, albeit virtually, in an exhibition at the ifc mall.
“We launched the R8 in 2007, and we sold worldwide 27,000 vehicles. I’m very, very happy to launch this car here now in Hong Kong,” says René Koneberg, managing director of Audi Hong Kong.
The new model is touted as being the fastest Audi production ever, and is the closest the German brand has been to making a consumer car with race car standards. The Audi R8 V10 Plus features the same engine as the Lamborghini Huracàn and boasts a powerful 610 hp. The standard V10 also boasts an incredible 540 hp, a considerable upgrade compared to the previous model.
The racing-inspired design and controls of the new R8 is made to make the driver feel like a race car driver. The V10 accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.5 seconds, and has a maximum speed of 320 km/h. The V10 Plus performs even more incredibly at 3.2 seconds, with a top speed of 330 km/h.
To celebrate the launch of the Audi R8 exhibition in Hong Kong, the brand invited three professional racing drivers, Edoardo Mortara, Alex Yoong and local star Marchy Lee to the opening event.
Guests at the event could also have fun at the R8 NeuroRacer, an innovative interactive game installed at the exhibition. For the first time ever, the game utilises neuro-transmission technology so that game users can control the speed and direction of the car on the race track using their minds rather than the traditional hand-held game controller.
The Audi R8 exhibition at the ifc mall runs from March 24 to 27, 2016.
