Ahead of World Sleep Day, The Crystal Van founder, Vanessa Hui, returns with three healing stones to support peaceful and uninterrupted sleep
Vanessa Hui, the founder of The Crystal Van, has long helped her clients with many aspects of their lives. Helping them gain longterm qualitative sleep, is certainly one of them. Here she suggests a trio of crystals that are popular for promoting good sleep.
Known as a stone of transition, lepidolite offers gentle support during stressful times of uncertainty or change. It’s one of the best stones to promote peaceful sleep due to its natural source of lithium mineral – a remedy often used for anxiety, mood swings and depression. Lepidolite works quickly to clear mental clutter, drowsy the mind and shift the body into relaxation mode so you can fall asleep more easily. If obsessive worries, anxious thoughts or heavy emotions are keeping you awake at night try a visualisation meditation with lepidolite for 10 minutes before you sleep. Hold it in your receptive hand (your non-dominant hand), take deep breaths and visualise a violet flame moving through your body. Release any unserving thoughts, stress or worries you’re carrying into the violet flame and watch them dissolve and disappear.
If you’re waking up in the night or struggling to get restful sleep, try working with amethyst. Amethyst is a stone of serenity, peace and emotional balance that has been long associated with sleep and stress-relief. It has a deeply peaceful energy that’s believed to ease nightmares and offer emotional and spiritual protection in the dream realm. Amethyst not only invites zen vibes into your space, its purifying properties shield you from negativity, whether its negativity from others (such as psychic attack) or your own negative thoughts. Reach for amethyst when you want to de-stress and rejuvenate after a long day. Try adding amethyst to your evening bath to soak in its serene energies – it’ll melt away worries, draw out tension from the body and remind you that it’s okay to relax. (Remember to use only polished amethyst crystals).
Selenite is believed to bring harmony, protection and healing to the mind, body and soul. Instantly soothing, just looking at this white crystal brings us into the right mindset for sleep; clear and light. This stone wants you to be light. It teaches forgiveness and invites you to be open, honest, and liberated. It frees you from tangled thoughts, heavy emotions and helps you unburden yourself of anything not aligned with your highest potential. As a self-cleansing crystal it clears negativity and keeps a continuous flow of positive energy around it. If you share your sleeping space with a partner, selenite can be helpful – its far reaching effects keep the energy of its surroundings and those in it pure and light. If you’re a light sleeper, selenite’s high vibrational energy might be too strong to keep close to you. Try placing selenite further away from the bed but still in view.
