Actor, singer, producer, activist… is there no end to Selena Gomez’s talents? Well, we can now add makeup mogul to the list – and the good news is that her mission-driven beauty brand Rare Beauty is launching exclusively in Hong Kong at Sephora this July.
Founded, created and developed by Selena herself, Rare Beauty has been three years in the making, and is built around the idea of using makeup as a tool to celebrate what makes you unique. The range comprises over 100 thoughtfully formulated, thoroughly tested products across 14 different categories, with the emphasis on distinctive, breathable and easy-to-use formulas that deliver adjustable coverage and the opportunity for self-expression – and it’s all cruelty-free and vegan too.
In Selena’s own words: “I’m so excited to release beauty products that not only feel great, but also celebrate what makes each of us rare. These products aren’t about being someone else, it’s about being who you are – whether that’s rocking a full face of bold makeup or barely any makeup at all. Makeup is something to enjoy, it’s not something you need. I want every person to feel beautiful exactly as they are.”
The full Rare Beauty collection will be available online at Sephora.hk on 1 July 2021, and in-store at Sephora stores in Central’s IFC mall, Causeway Bay’s Windsor House and Tsim Sha Tsui’s K11 Art Mall on 15 July 2021.
Here are three of our top picks from the Rare Beauty range:
Blot & Glow Touch-Up Kit
Perfect for Hong Kong’s hot and humid summer, this convenient refillable compact has everything you need to keep your complexion fresh-faced and fabulous whatever the weather. Featuring linen-blend blotting papers and a talc-free powder-infused puff, it’s ideal for absorbing oil, eliminating excess shine and giving complexions an on-the-go universally flattering, soft-focus finish.
Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation
Forget heavy cakey foundations available in only about five shades; Rare Beauty’s signature foundation is lightweight, breathable and comes in a whopping 32 shades to cater for a full spectrum of skin tones. Melting into your complexion to create a flawless but natural finish, the formula comes infused with lotus, gardenia and white waterlily extracts to help soothe and nourish skin too.
Perfect Strokes Matte Liquid Liner
If you’re a fan of a cat-eye, this might just be your new favourite eyeliner. Inspired by a calligraphy brush, this longwearing waterproof liner features a patent-pending flexible brush tip crafted from over 1,000 soft vegan bristles, allowing for the ultimate precision when it comes to creating liner looks of any thickness. Try pairing it with a bright, bold lip using Rare Beauty’s highly pigmented Lip Souffle Matte Lip Creams (we’re loving the look of classic red shade Inspire) for an instantly iconic #MOTD.
