The hype around K-beauty grows stronger year after year. There is great appetite for new K-beauty trends with the changing of each season. From eco-friendly products to minimalism beauty, here are four K-beauty trends to try out in 2022
Turn plant ingredients into beauty products
Plant-ingredients-turned beauty products with vegetable and fruit extract are the first K-beauty trend to look out for in 2022. K-beauty influencer, Claudia Christin, anticipates Retinol (also known as Vitamin A) to become a fundamental beauty resource this year. This skincare expert, who studies dermatology in Korea, explained that Retinol helps eliminate skin wrinkles and maximises skin elasticity.
Food sources such as purple onions, carrots and spinach contain much of this type of Vitamin A, one of the most desired ingredients in beauty products.
Use eco-friendly products
Finding the perfect eco-friendly beauty products often feels like solving a never-ending homework. As such, beauty brands across the world have tried to come up with biodegradable packaging to make their products more attractive to eco-conscious consumers. K-beauty is not an exception. Korean beauty brand, Peach & Lily’s founder Alicia Yoon is one of the most highly visible skincare experts to highlight sustainability, eco-friendly and biodegradable packaging to become a must-check-out beauty trend in 2022.
Among many K-beauty brands, Innisfree and Toun 28 are two leading skincare brands to voice out their use of biodegradable packaging. Innisfree put “Hello, I’m Paper Bottle” on the packaging to help promote the campaign. They successfully reduced plastic usage by 51.8 per cent by inventing this paper bottle. Toun 28, a Korean skincare brand that highlights eco-friendliness, also designed a paper bottle. It reduced almost 97 per cent of plastic usage and also integrates polythene inside to prevent the packaging from absorbing the cosmetics.
Explore multi-use beauty products
As people are getting busier and busier in contemporary society, multi-use products have become increasingly attractive than at any other time in the past. Products made for multi-purpose use by combining the merits of cream, essence and toner have quickly become another K-beauty trend this year.
Spearheading the trend is Korean beauty brand, Kahi, which introduced the “Multi Balm”, an all-day skincare routine, that doesn’t limit itself to a morning regimen or bedtime practice. It is a take-anywhere chubby stick to put on anytime during your day. It is said to improve makeup’s staying power, increase skin elasticity, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. There is no doubt that people love saving time by using multi-purpose beauty products.
Make your home a skincare sanctuary
As the pandemic continues, there’s no way we are getting rid of our face masks when going out for the time being. As a result, keratin care and moisturising are two practices people worry about the most. Korean skincare brands pay attention to AHA and BHA-related products to meet customers’ needs.
Another K-beauty trend to look out for in 2022 will be the concept of self care at home to soothe sensitive skin. The South Korean skincare brand, COSRX, introduced their “AHA BHA Vitamin C Daily Toner”, which helps anti-ageing, skin whitening, and moisturising.
