Zoe Kravitz is the new Catwoman in Matt Reeves' upcoming The Batman

Star of Big Little Lies and style queen Zoe Kravitz has been cast to play Catwoman in Matt Reeves’ upcoming The Batman and we couldn’t be more excited.
We have no doubts that Kravitz will do the complex character justice following the footsteps of iconic actresses such as Eartha Kitt, Anne Hathaway and Michelle Pfeiffer. Recently, Reeves came under fire for casting Robert Pattinson as Batman. However, we think that the choice could result in a refreshing take on an overplayed character.
In the final weeks before the announcement, Kravitz was beside Baby Driver’s Eiza Gonzalez, Zazie Beetz from Atlanta, Deadpool 2 and The Joker, and Oscar winner Alicia Vikander, but she eventually came out on top.
Many actors took to social media to congratulate Kravit’s new role, including Anne Hathaway, who played Catwoman on the Dark Knight Rises in 2012, who wrote on her Instagram: “The biggest congrats to Zoe Kravitz on landing a role of a lifetime. Well, one life anyway..”. Michelle Pfeiffer from 1992’s Batman Returns also gave Kravitz some surprising advice. “Make sure whilst designing the costume they consider how you’re going to go to the bathroom,” Pfeiffer recently said on Good Morning America.
The Batman is set release in June 2021 and we can’t wait to see Reeve’s interpretation of the cult franchise. With Kravitz and Pattinson in the cast, the director also has a chance to bring to the public fresh and edgy versions of beloved characters. Stay tuned!
