Yves Saint Laurent Retrospective Opens in America

May 05, 2017

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is drawing from the Foundation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent archives and private collections for their Yves Saint Laurent: The Perfection of Style exhibition, which opens to the public tomorrow. The intimate retrospective traces the life and works of one of fashion’s greatest icons, and features over 100 pieces of haute couture and ready-to-wear garments. Devotees of the house will be excited to hear that many of the items on show have never been publicly displayed before, including collection boards containing sketches and colour swatches from 1962-2002 that document each haute couture show up to Saint Laurent’s retirement. The exhibition also includes the 1953 “Paper Doll Couture House” the designer created as a teenager, which has never been shown in the United States before.

Yves Saint Laurent: The Perfection of Style runs May 6 – August 27 at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. For more information see their website, here.
