Enter the year of the Tiger with timepieces specifically designed to commemorate the upcoming festivity. Incorporating the striking characteristics of this majestic big cat, the following watchmakers have successfully integrated the wild factor inside sleek and elegant designs – much like the tiger itself
Here are five luxury timepieces not to miss this Lunar New Year:
TAG Heuer Carrera
Courageous, confident and adventurous – qualities to be found in the tiger and TAG Heuer Carrera. The watchmaker’s Year of the Tiger Limited Edition piece combines light and dark stripes of different materials to mimic the elegance of the tiger’s fur. The sapphire crystal on the caseback is adorned with a lifelike blue tiger waiting to pounce. Engraved is “One of 300” to denote its limited-edition status.
Vacheron Constantin Métiers d’Art
Jianzhi, a traditional Chinese paper-cutting technique, has a very deep origin with Scherenschnitt paper-cutting in Switzerland. Vacheron Constantin used this artistic approach and the expertise of their master engravers and enamellers to give a fresh interpretation of the Métiers d’Art The legend of the Chinese zodiac. In order to show the central dial motif a starring role. The hands-free time display gives the central dial motif a starring role.

Chopard L.U.C XP Urushi
It has been a tradition that Chopard annually launches a new timepiece based on the Chinese zodiac calendar. This year, an 88-piece limited series is dedicated to the Tiger. On the exquisite dial, gold flakes placed between layers of lacquer light up a background with a tiger perching on a bay surrounded by cliffs under the starlight, claws out and jaw turning sideways. Made from 18-carat rose gold, the dial is also ultra-thin with a thickness of only 6.8 mm bringing you a sense of style.
IWC Pilot’s watch chronograph edition
Burgundy, a charming variation of the bright red colour, is always used to greet the Chinese New Year. IWC created a striking burgundy dial and a matching calfskin strap. You may not see the tiger element from the dial, but looking at the caseback, the true highlight of this limited edition becomes visible – a running and leaping tiger symbolizes power and self-confidence, also reminding us of the coming year.
Movado Museum Classic
This limited edition of 300 pieces incorporates elements of the Chinese zodiac but remains true to the Bauhaus style of the Museum collection. The main colour of the dial is carbon black, and the difference in the texture of the material creates three layers of the tiger head, dial, and case in a uniform black tone. Interestingly, the “dark tiger” motif only appears when the wearer raises his wrist to look at the dial from the front.
