Jun 05, 2024

Fans of the Mandarin Oriental will be thrilled to learn that the hotel has just made its debut in the Sultanate of Oman

Located in the heart of Muscat within the prestigious neighbourhood of Shatti Al-Qurum, the resort’s architecture draws inspiration from the richness of Oman’s culture. French interior designer Xavier Cartron has created a journey of discovery for guests, from the grand Omani wooden doors at the entrance to the three fountains that represent to the country’s cultural influences from the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Coconut and palm trees frame the captivating sea views found here that capture Muscat’s status and mystique as a historical port city. The 103 guestrooms and 47 suites are no less stunning, featuring handcrafted pieces made from locally sourced natural materials including Desert Rose marble and Ashwood. The bed backboard draws inspiration from the “Kuma”, the traditional Omani hat, while authentic motifs and fabrics pay homage to traditional handwoven patterns. Brass lanterns are inspired by the iconic “Khanjar”, the Omani daggers showcasing the region’s artisanal heritage.

Meanwhile, the 156 private homes of The Residences at Mandarin Oriental offer the ultimate in waterfront lifestyle, made perfect with Mandarin Oriental’s comfort and service.

No Mandarin Oriental is complete without culinary offerings. The five distinct restaurants and lounge here are led by executive chef Raymond Rjaily, who joins from Mandarin Oriental Jakarta. Essenza is the property’s signature restaurant that features cuisines of from Italy’s coastal regions, using traditional recipes passed down through generations.

For sweets, The Mandarin Cake Shop has pastries, cakes and a bakery corner with an array of viennoiseries, breads and savouries, paired with a selection of specialty teas and coffees. Executive pastry chef Stephane Tranchet leads the team here, after stints at legendary Michelin-starred institutions around the globe. He was most recently at Mandarin Oriental Tokyo, where his “cloud cake” established him as a pastry maestro.

Mandarin Oriental Muscat’s spa combine Asian inspired treatments with local healing traditions. It features a traditional Hammam, combining Moroccan healing techniques with modern therapies, for a personalised and holistic approach to relaxation. In addition, the 30-metre outdoor pool is perfect for either energetic laps or unwinding with bites and drinks from the pool bar. There is also space for little ones at the kids’ pool, play area, and the kids’ club located in the promenade.

The hotel also has 2,000 square metres of indoor venues and an additional 335 square metres of outdoor space for events and weddings alike. All venues are bathed in natural daylight, including a 800-square-metre ballroom with spectacular sea views, an adjoining bridal room and three dedicated banqueting and meeting spaces.
