Most notably, the character Tomie, who is portrayed as a girl smiling with a splitting image of a monster, has gone viral and since been an inspiration to many including tattoo artists.

The Immersive Journey of Junji Ito presented by The Mills features five major stories from the prominent horror mangaka. The twisted settings are brought to life in each exhibition area via life-size character models in cramped spaces—giving visitors a surreal look into Ito’s world of horror.
