Watches and Wonders 2023: Vacheron Constantin constantly churns out surprises

Mar 28, 2023

Vacheron Constantin is constantly adding surprises to its watch making tradition. For their Watches and Wonders 2023 showcase, the Swiss luxury watch maker is offering quite a few highlights

Overseas moon phase retrograde date

The release of this model marks the first Vacheron Constantin sports watch with a retrograde display. But it maintains the collection’s instantly recognisable attributes, such as the six-sided bezel evoking the Maltese cross, fluted crown, polished and satin-brushed finishes, translucent lacquered dial, luminescent hour-markers and hands.

Traditionnelle tourbillon retrograde date openface

A theme we are seeing a lot at Watches and Wonders 2023 is combining the modern with the traditional. For Vacheron Constantin, this means housing traditional high watchmaking in contemporary designs. The in-house 2162 R31 self-winding movement is in clear for all to see through the openworked sapphire dial, which also has a guilloché segment.

Patrimony retrograde day-date

Inspired by the minimalist designs of special retrograde displays from the 1920’s and 1930’s, the salmon pink dial in a platinum case serves the classic, minimalist elegance that is part of the maison’s heritage. But it does so without sacrificing the retrograde complications that remind one of its superior technical abilities.

Overseas self-winding

With a slimmer and more ergonomic silhouette, the four new models of the Overseas collection in pink gold and steel are available in both gemset and non-set versions, with a sunburst blue or pink lacquered dial. “These new watches correspond to an aesthetic trend dictated by more classical standards. It is characterised by a reduction in the size of the watches, which are equally suited to both men’s and women’s wrists,” explains Christian Selmoni, Vacheron Constantin’s director of style and heritage.

Les Cabinotiers Dual Moon Grand Complication

The original design inspiration for the Les Cabinotiers Dual moon Grand Complication watch was to pay tribute to the moon. The 2023 edition brings the moon display to the forefront on this model, with the colour code and its size making its presence clear and bright. This one-of-a-kind double-sided watch houses a new manual-winding in-house Calibre 2755 TMRCCQP and 11 horological complications including a minute repeater, a perpetual calendar, a precision moon phases, a sky chart.
