Jaeger-LeCoultre (JLC) uses shimmery aventurine to paint a starry scene across the dial of the new Rendez-Vous, while the Polaris reveals its most complicated self yet.

A modern classic from Jaeger-LeCoultre, the Rendez-Vous has seen numerous iterations over the years. At the heart of this timepiece is the elegant moon phase. However, this year, the watchmaker brings a whimsical update to the design, taking inspiration from one of the most dazzling celestial phonemes– the shooting star.

The Rendez-Vous Dazzling Star’s dial comprises three discs that come together to form the shooting star complication. When the mechanism is triggered, the shooting star briefly reveals itself across the top of the dial before retreating once again behind the aventurine disc. If one were to believe that a shooting star sighting is a sign of good luck, then this on-demand complication places the odds squarely in the hands of its owner.

The timepiece gets its intense sparkle from a dual halo of 436 diamonds in two different sizes around the bezel. A second version of this pink gold design shimmers even more brightly with a full-pave bracelet.

Presented for the first time with the perpetual calendar function, the moon and the stars find their way onto the dial of the Polaris. The Polaris Perpetual Calendar, propelled by the in-house Calibre 868AA, provides indications of time, day, date, year, and a retrograde display of the Southern and Western Hemisphere moonphases.

One of the most complex grand complications in watchmaking, the timepiece also tracks the leap year, indicated in red through an aperture at the dial’s centre. The in-house automatic movement brings 70 hours of power reserve to the timepiece. A pink gold or steel case houses the visually-rich gradient blue dial.
