A classic look from the new collection, channeling London's overcast weather

“The woman is an explorer in her own city,” explained the designer on Wednesday as she debuted her new Victoria, Victoria Beckham (VVB) line at The Ritz London. She was charismatic as ever in a dark two-piece ensemble, tied together with an oversized orange belt.

Bright colours stood out amongst the muted tones of the collection

Foggy grey double-faced cashmere coats are a nod to the city’s notorious weather, but paired with a scarf-inspired, silk print pyjama shirt, or shocking orange knit – they’re anything but gloomy. Charming monochrome doodles and Mary Quant-style illustrations appear add surprising notes of whimsical charm to the luxury collection, aimed at polished and creative women.

Shapes are long and lean, with cropped and full-length wide leg trousers and pleated skirts in block colours. Softer, more unstructured pieces are given shape with knots, wraps and cutouts. The athleisure trend made an appearance in a wide-legged tracksuit trouser, discreetly trimmed with the city destination names represented in the recent Victoria Beckham-Estée Lauder make up collaboration. Favourite outerwear pieces include a superbly executed, wool-lined oversized bomber jacket and a glossy mac featuring the new VVB check, informed by train tracks, tube maps and tower blocks.

Like London’s rain, the collection is impossible to ignore, and worthy of embracing.
