The highlights of Milan Men's Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2025

Jun 18, 2024

David Ho delves into the highlights from Milan Men’s Fashion Week by Gucci, Emporio Armani, Tod’s, JW Anderson, and Prada

Gucci

Sabato de Sarno wants to bring men to the Resort, as implied by his collection’s title and his designs. The maison’s favourite trench coat came in brighter colours and more billowy silhouettes to fit the collection’s intended seasons. Besides that, there were also see-through mesh shirts, beach shorts, tops with tropical surfer prints for that hot boy summer vibe.

Emporio Armani

Armani’s interpretation of Freedom in Nature seems to consist of fits that resemble safari wear and equestrian outfits. With projections of lavender fields and wild horses to set the mood, the sense of exploration was propelled by the adventure-ready collection.

Tod’s

Creative director Matteo Tamburini’s wants to emphasize that Artisanal Intelligence, not Artificial Intelligence, is behind his first menswear collection for Tod’s. With a colour palette full of earthy tones with a dash of navy and blue for measure, the lineup of elegant standards did not provide anything unconventional or surprising. Men that favour their spring/summer tailoring to consist of essentials with a smart flair will favour this.

JW Anderson

With a collection titled Real Sleep, it’s no surprise that JW Anderson dreamed of a cozy and comfortable designs, with quilted duvet coats aplenty. He also leaned into his Irish heritage for the designs, with inspirations coming from Guinness beer and Irish architecture. Exaggerated silhouettes have become the norm with Anderson so we saw voluminous and padded outfits on the runway too.

Prada

Miuccia Prada and Raf Simmons’ want you to come Closer, as the name of their latest collection suggests. A closeup inspection is probably best to better appreciate the details on the lineup of mostly traditional button-down tops paired with straight-cut trousers. The collection also borrows liberally across the colour spectrum to give the clothes some energy and vibrancy.
