The MTV VMAs are a cultural touchstone of an event. David Ho looks at the list of winners for 2024
This year, Taylor Swift and Post Malone led the nominations with 12 and 11 respectively. They both left as the top two winners, with seven wins for Swift and five for Malone. Their collaboration "Fortnight" helped massively as it gave them shared wins when it netted Best Collaboration, Song of the Summer, Best Direction, Best Editing, and the coveted Video of the Year.
Lisa from BlackPink made history as a non-Korean winner when she won for Best K-Pop with her comeback song "Rockstar". The Thai superstar edged out stiff competition from Jungkook, NCT Dream, NewJeans, Stray Kids, and Tomorrow x Together.
Performances by Sabrina Carpenter, Megan Thee Stallion, Shawn Mendes, Lisa, and Anitta made the night, while #legends like Lenny Kravitz, LL Cool J, and Eminem also took to the stage.
