Launched this Monday, 17 August, Net-a-Porter brings the model of fashion-for-a-cause to the next level with an ambitious line-up of 15 exclusive capsules to support Space for Giants.
While the global pandemic and limitations on travel have allowed Mother Earth to “heal”, it has also left particular habitats under threat. For instance, the decline in tourism and philanthropic funding to Africa has allowed poachers to recklessly engage in wildlife trade. This is where Space for Giants, comes in, as the NGO dedicates efforts to protect Africa’s elephants and preserve these natural habitats.
The “Walk for Giants” line is made of safari-inspired wardrobe essentials, leveraging a warm, neutral palette that is fitting all year round. We highlighted our favourites below to get your shopping cart started.
Burberry – Space for Giants
Known synonymously for its trench coats and outerwear, Burberry offers us with a design that takes a note from traditional military jackets. The details such as the button-fastening shoulder epaulettes and tactile suede trims along the collar, cuffs and pockets give it a distinct flair.
Familiar but unique, 3.1 Phillip Lim is all about effortless pieces with their signature deconstructed twist. This skirt makes a statement with its elaborate panels of organic cotton-twill, arranged in undulating lengths to create an asymmetric silhouette.
Handcrafted by local artisans in Spain, this cotton-canvas number makes for a perfect travel staple. Not only in size, but the front flap pocket compartment and detachable zipped pouch keep your belongings tidy.
How can you resist gazing at these alluring Zambian emeralds, sourced near the Kafue river in northern Zambia? There’s more than meets the eye as the design’s delicate nature serves to mirror the fragility of endangered African habitats today. The designer intently chose emeralds for its fertility and rebirth connotations to leave on an uplifting note.
Campaign imagery made possible by Gemfields was shot by Francesco Carrozzini, with creative direction by Riccardo Ruini, featuring top models Arizona Muse and Selena Forrest at Enasoit Game Sanctuary in Laikipia, Kenya.
