As seen on Beyoncé, Blackpink & Dua Lipa: 6 Marine Serre moon print looks we love

What do Beyoncé’s “Already” music video, Adele’s latest Instagram post, and Dua Lipa’s visual cover of “Physical” have in common? The iconic crescent moons of Marine Serre, which are currently taking over the fashion world.

According to Lyst, global online searches for “Marine Serre crescent moon print” spiked 426% within 48 hours after Beyoncé dropped her latest visual album, Black is King. The album was hailed as the digital fashion event of the summer, but amongst all the striking looks she served up in the 90-minute visual feast, the internet has chosen its favourite – the brown Marine Serre moon print catsuit. Searches for “Marine Serre” continue to rise 51% weekly according to Lyst, and even just reached its peak on Google.

The creator behind the signature moon print taking over our Instagram feeds is 28-year old French designer, Marine Serre. Despite her young age, she was described by none other than Karl Lagerfeld as having “a will of steel” in one of his final interviews. After taking home the LVMH prize in 2017, Serre launched her eponymous label and made the crescent moon it’s de facto logo. Since then her iconic moon print can be spotted on most of her designs, namely her second-skin-like garments which she is most known for.

On why she chose the moon as her brand’s logo, she explained to Dazed & Confused that she is drawn to the multifaceted nature of the moon as a symbol: “It is one of the oldest symbols that ever existed, present everywhere, and that keeps evolving with us… It is never stable and timeless at the same time.”
