Panerai unveils two new timepieces at Watches and Wonders 2020

Sep 15, 2020

Not everything’s been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Case in point, Watches and Wonders 2020 was held at the Shanghai West Bund Art Center from 9-13 September, marking its first appearance in China. There, Panerai unveiled two new timepieces to their Luminor collection.

Panerai Submersible Goldtech™ – 44mm

With the aim to balance elegance and athleticism, the Panerai Submersible Goldtech™ – 44mm combines two innovative materials for the very first time: Panerai Goldtech™ and Carbotech™.

The case of the new timepiece is made entirely made from Panerai Goldtech™ – a gold alloy with an intense colour made possible by its copper content and platinum content. The bezel, crown and crown bridge lever is made from Carbotech™, which allows the components to be even stronger and more durable.

Ideal for diving, this 44mm watch is not only water-resistant to a depth of 300 metres but is also able to withstand high-pressure thanks to its unidirectional rotating bezel and screwed caseback.

Luminor Luna Rossa GMT 42mm

To reinforce their role as the official sponsor of the Luna Rossa Challenge Team, an Italian sailboat racing team and strong contender at the 36th America’s Cup, Panerai has released the limited edition Luminor Luna Rossa GMT 42mm.

This is the first piece where Panerai incorporates Scafotech™ into watchmaking, which is a unique material made from carbon fiber residue collected from the hull and hydrofoils of the Italian team’s AC75 yacht. The residue is then recycled and shaped into high-tech polymer for the watch dial.

The Panerai Luminor Luna Rossa GMT 42mm is limited to just 250 pieces, with an inscription on the dial and a Luna Rossa logo engraving presented on the titanium caseback.
