Natalie Portman has long been a critic of social media, once saying that it’s like “like the last thing you want to do.” But now, she’s changed her tune and joined Instagram. However, she’s using her influence for good. She’s joined the social media platform to raise awareness about sexual assault and harassment by spreading word about the Time’s Up movement. She’s joining 300 other Hollywood women—including Reese Witherspoon and Selena Gomez—who are supporting this cause.
She’s been vocal about sexual harassment before, and has mentioned that she’s been on the receiving end of it—not just sometimes, but on every project she’s worked on. In just a day, Portman has shared seven images related to Time’s Up, and even included a link in her bio which takes you to the organization’s site. Portman also captioned an image, “Everyone’s resolution for the year: No more accepting sexual harassment and inequality at work as normal. It’s not normal.” She also directed her followers to sign the movement’s solidarity letter, saying that: “Time’s up on silence. Time’s up on waiting. Time’s up on tolerating discrimination, harassment or abuse.”
Time’s Up is a movement that fights to “address the systemic inequality and injustice in the workplace that have kept underrepresented groups from reaching their full potential.”
