Fashion month September is giving us the long-awaited Milan Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2023. Maisons of great repute alongside other labels are unveiling their SS23 collections in the fashion mecca that is Milan. Let us give you a quick overview of what to expect this week
What is Milan Fashion Week?
Twice a year in February and September, fashion brands descend upon Milan to showcase their Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer collections for the season ahead. From fashionistas and reporters to couturiers and models, the city comes alive in the most stylish way.
The weeklong event is partially organised by The National Chamber for Italian Fashion. It coordinates and promotes the development of Italian fashion.
Each fashion week delivers around 70 fashion shows and 90 presentations of designers to an international audience in standard arrangements, including catwalk shows, designer showrooms and static presentations. In addition to its womenswear shows, Milan also hosts events such as Milan Fashion Week Men’s in January and June, which are dedicated to menswear but considerably smaller in size and reach.
This year, Milan Fashion Week will take place from September 20 to 26, 2022.
Where does it take place?
Milan Fashion Week dedicates various venues to showcasing the most elegant and influential palaces to become the design stage. It recently relocated to three main venues in Milan: Spazio Cavallerizze, Palazzo Reale’s Sala delle Cariatidi, and the Padiglione Visconti.
What can we expect from Milan Fashion Week 2022?
Milan Fashion Week 2022 will have 67 fashion shows, of which 61 physical and six digital. It will also highlight the eighth edition of the Milano Moda Graduate fashion show, an event that displays the talented works of students from the best fashion schools in Italy. This edition will also see the return of Salvatore Ferragamo, Boss, Antonio Marras, Vivetta, Moncler and Anteprima. The latter two brands will celebrate their 70th and 30th anniversaries, respectively.
Other exciting Fashion Week participants include Diesel, Fendi, Alberta Ferretti, N21, Roberto Cavalli, Onitsuka Tiger, Max Mara, Prada, MM6, Emporio Armani, Moschino, Tod’s, Missoni, Sportmax, Etro, Gucci, Ports 1961, MSGM, Jil Sander, Salvatore Ferragamo, D&G, Bally, Bottega Veneta, Moncler, and Giorgio Armani, among many others.
