It’s the start of a new year, so why not make some new habits to start off fresh, clean and energised for whatever 2021 may bring? We checked in with a few of our #legend100 friends including Mayao, Hilary Fan, Nat Kwan and Tim Fung, who shared their morning rituals on how to start the day on a positive and healthy note.
If there’s an important shoot lined up, I’ll usually start the day with a cup of black coffee to detox and reduce swelling.
During summer days, I like to take a cold shower in the morning to wake myself up instantly. A cold shower can also help reduce sore muscles and support muscle recovery after vigorous sports.
I like to start off my day by stretching, because sometimes you just don’t sleep right, leaving your body in a tense state. You can also apply this habit before bed to relax your muscles and help prevent you from stiff joints when you wake up.
For breakfast, I enjoy making a nutritious, wholesome smoothie. I usually use berries and banana to form the base, before throwing in some hearty oats.
Going for an early morning walk is really refreshing, especially before sunrise, when it’s still quiet. It’s the perfect time to clear your head and de-stress before you get on with your busy schedule.
I’ve been religiously eating a kiwi with the skin on every morning – not many people know that kiwi skins are packed with nutrients and offer potent antioxidant protection for the entire body. These antioxidants have kept my skin allergies at bay.
If I’m not running on a tight schedule, I’d ask my brother to join me for a morning jog. Besides getting a workout in, it’s also quality time for family bonding.
I’ve made it a habit to always start the day by making my bed. It’s one of the simplest things you can do to feel a sense of accomplishment in the morning while setting the tone for the rest of the day.
Being in the midst of flu season, it’s so important to take your vitamins. Every morning before I prepare breakfast, I consume health supplements like vitamin C, multivitamins, omega 3 and collagen to give me that extra boost.
I am a huge coffee drinker and enjoy brewing a hot cup of pour-over and adding some coconut oil into the mix. It’s said to help maintain ketosis in your body, improves blood sugar control and reduces heart complications.
