Lamborghini Huracán Coupé: A Hurricane of Adrenaline and Emotion

Dec 01, 2016

The interior seems to have been taken from the cockpit of a fighter jet

The world seems to have gone mad on the eve of Halloween. With the city busily engulfed in getting ready for the night ahead, I seem to be going against the flow. I’m preparing to head out of Central, away from the pull of the crowd, to prepare for a run with a bull.

To look at a Lamborghini Huracán is to view the sexiest super car. Walking into the showroom and meeting this raging bull, I know this is going to be a wild ride. I’ve prepared with a wardrobe of the latest Philipp Plein looks from the autumn/winter collection. It’s a warm day, a hot range of Lamborghinis and some stylish clothes. It’s a wild combination for a test drive.

The Huracán line-up consists of three cars. The Huracán Avio Special Edition comes in a matte body finish with distinctive trim modelled after the Italian Air Force, the Huracán Spyder convertible and the Lamborghini Huracán Coupé.

While it’s something else to look at from the outside, the Huracán models have a breathtaking interior that appears to have been taken from the cockpit of a fighter jet. If you are unfamiliar with the Lamborghini’s interior, trust me when I say you’ll be blown away by its modern and elegant design that is supremely comfortable and extremely spacious.

Test-driving cars is not all about telling your readers about the technical aspects of the engine and its performance; those details you can get straight from the Lamborghini website. Instead there’s something a little more slick to watch online at the #legend website.

After the photo shoot with the Avio and Spyder, it was time to take the Coupé out for a test drive. Most people are not fortunate enough to have driven a Lamborghini and, I suspect that just the thought of controlling a V-10 propelled raging bull might be intimidating. I have been behind the wheel of a few Lamborghinis previously and, believe me, it is not the bull that I’m worried about, it’s the charging animal inside of me that needs to be tamed because I love driving fast.

Inside the cockpit, I explain to my co-pilot the most important task of the day is to capture the driving experience on film. With a state-ofthe-art handheld camera rolling, we were ready to take off.

The modern-day test driver has to be able to multitask and I spend some of the time on the camera, and then driving at high speed. When the car costs upwards of HK$4.18 million, that’s daunting to my passenger. We warm up with a little chit-chat along the way.

I have to say the overall driving experience was astonishingly easy, with the precision of the handling making it easy to pilot the car. This is a car that can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and will move at a top speed of 325 km/h. All three models have the same V-10 engine so making a choice may not be as easy as it seems. I’d suggest choosing the model that best suits your lifestyle but if it were up to me I’d choose to take them all.

In all, this was a day like no other. It was difficult saying goodbye to something that is so beautiful. Yet, as we all know, if you love something, set it free and if it comes back, it is yours forever.

I’m waiting for the next time a Lamborghini Huracán model comes into my life, and I’m hoping it will be forever. In the meantime, at least I have the video as a memoir.
