Immediately after the grand finale of the Chanel couture show, underneath the specially erected Eiffel Tower miniature, Karl Lagerfeld was awarded Paris’ highest honour: La Medaille Grand Vermeil de la Ville de Paris.
A star-studded crowd looked on in awe as the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, presented Chanel’s Creative Director with the medal, earned for his devotion to the city, and endless efforts in making “Paris more beautiful” and “more creative”. Celebrities in attendance, such as Julianne Moore, Sofia Coppola and Katy Perry, continued to praise Lagerfeld for both his designs and his contributions to the fashion industry long after the ceremony was over.
Like the rest of the world, we can’t wait to see what Lagerfeld has planned next.
