Dunhill announced last Friday that its creative director, John Ray, will be leaving his post after three years in the job.

In a statement, Dunhill said the decision is mutual and that the designer’s autumn/winter 2016 collection will be his last collaboration with the brand.

First breaking the news on February 19, WWD credited Ray for breathing new life into Dunhill with “a series of luxe collections that channelled the spirit of the nation’s aristocrats and bohemians alike.” Ray’s collections for Dunhill had always been elegant, featuring luxurious mink and alpaca coats, silk-striped pyjamas and tailored clothing in traditional British fabrics.

Ray had previously worked under Tom Ford as a menswear consultant while he was at Gucci, and later headed the Italian brand after Ford’s departure and before Frida Gianini’s arrival in 2008.
