As autumn settles in, Island Shangri-La is set to transform its renowned venues into a haven for wine enthusiasts with the return of its much-anticipated Festival of Wine. Kicking off in November, this fifth edition promises an immersive experience that celebrates the artistry of winemaking through a series of exclusive events designed for both seasoned connoisseurs and curious newcomers alike.
Over the month, guests can partake in 16 unique wine-tasting events spread across five distinguished restaurants within the hotel. Each venue will showcase an impressive selection of over 100 wine labels, including rare treasures like the Château Latour 1961, which commands an average price tag of HK$40,000 per bottle. The festival will also feature an array of culinary pairings crafted by Island Shangri-La’s acclaimed chefs, ensuring exquisite flavours complement each sip.
Highlights include:
- Signature icons at restaurant Petrus: A deep dive into Bordeaux with exceptional vintages such as Château Margaux 1961 and Château Mouton-Rothschild 1918.
- Classic regions at Summer Palace: A pairing dinner featuring Grand Cru wines from Domaine de la Vougeraie, harmonizing with rich Cantonese dishes.
- Baron de Rothschild dinner at Lobster Bar and Grill: An exploration of Lafite wines paired with contemporary culinary creations.
- New and modern styles event: A showcase of innovative releases from The Macallan Whisky, blending tradition with modernity.
In addition to these exclusive dinners, the festival will offer tantalising tasting experiences throughout November. Guests can sample everything from Penfold’s iconic wines to fresh oysters paired with Chablis Cru, alongside a sophisticated afternoon tea featuring a selection of exquisite rosé wines.
