Mr Porter releases Small World collection to celebrate craftsmanship and community

As part of their 10th anniversary celebrations, the world’s leading online destination for men’s style Mr Porter launched their newest collection on Monday, entitled “Small World” with a focus on small-scale and artisanal production. 

The Small World collection marks MR Porter’s embrace of their new Craftsmanship Code in the form of a collection, which focuses upon the consideration production of designs, falling into one or more of the categories of future crafts, heritage crafts, being made to last, local production, high standards of animal welfare, and the use of considerate materials.

Sourcing from producers ranging from Tibet, Nigeria, Mexico and Bali to the United Kingdom and Japan, the Small World collection focuses especially upon those brands reusing various materials cast off from elsewhere, from discarded fishing nets and deadwood, to 1960’s-era military parachutes and tent fabrics. 

Totalling 33 brands, 16 of which are new to Mr Porter, brands in the collection include 11.11, By Japan, SPACE AVAILABLE, Double Eleven, SSAM, Portuguese Flannel, Bornn, Cooperative Djiguiyaso, Jungmaven, Post-Imperial, Slowdown Studio, True Tribe, Peyote Bird and Norlha, among others. The collection is also accompanied by a 10-unit-run of exclusive Bovet Small World watches.

Elements of the collection span fashion, home decor, grooming and watches, all intended to showcase local communities and artisans from around the world, and appeal to new desires of customers for sustainable, conscious products.  Including at least 338 products, including 184 which are exclusive to the site, the collection promises to offer a wide selection of options for customers.

The collection is available via Mr Porter’s home page, and according to the company’s buying director, Sam Kershaw, the new collection will promote “smaller artisanal partners that are creating world-class products in time-honoured ways”.
