To honour 70 years of Dior, The Arts Decoratifs Museum in Paris will once again display a lavish and comprehensive retrospective. The first exhibition of this kind was held in 1987, focusing on Dior’s designs from 1947-1957.
This new show, entitled Designer of Dreams, continues the narration, bringing visitors on a journey of discovery through the universe of the House of Dior, exploring the life and style of its founder, Christian Dior, and his celebrated successors like Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and, most recently, Maria Grazia Chiuri.
Over 300 haute couture gowns will be on display in the massive exhibit, going back to the original designs from 1947. Each garment, a work of art in itself, tells the story of Dior. Hundreds of illustrations, sketches, documentary photographs, letters and notes, as well as accessories like jewellery, hats, bags and shoes will also be displayed.
The exhibition will run from 5 July 2017 till 7 January 2018.
