Breguet adds two new models to its Marine collection

Breguet’s iconic Marine collection adds two new gem set models to its arsenal

The Marine 9518 and Marine Chronograph 5529 have taken the limelight as two new additions to Breguet’s highly-desired, contemporary Marine line.

One is graced with a sunburst blue dial recalling the sea, the second comes with a silver-toned dial hinting at foam dancing on the rocks. Eight diamonds replace certain hour markers on each dial, while the bezel is decked out with 50 diamonds.

This model features several of Breguet’s notable aesthetic attributes. The facetted gold hour and minute hands are luminescent and display the brand’s famous eccentric open-tipped style. To highlight maritime signals, the tip of the seconds hand signifies the letter “B” for “Bravo” in navigation codes. At 3 o’clock, the crown guard is distinguished by the wave shape characteristic of Breguet’s Marine line. The profile (caseband) bears the fluted motif featured on most Breguet watch cases. Abraham-Louis Breguet’s love of functional and elegant watchmaking led him to adorn the caseband of most of his watches with guilloché and fluted patterns.

Marine Chronograph 5529

This particular timepiece is crafted in white or rose gold, these sporty new versions feature a deep blue dial embellished with wave motifs, hand-guilloché within the manufacture. The abyss blue of the dial is lit up by the sparkle of eight baguette-cut diamonds dotted around the chapter ring. This radiant effect comes from luminescent hands and Roman numerals. Three 30-minute, 12-hour and 60-second chronograph counters appear at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock respectively. The date window is fixed between 4 and 5 o’clock, and the bezel of this new edition is adorned with 90 baguette-cut diamonds adding extra radiance.  

These versions are available on a midnight-blue leather or rubber strap, both models are fitted with a triple-blade folding clasp featuring a gold cap reminiscent of a ship wheel.
