Don’t sweat it: The best ugly Christmas sweaters you can get in Hong Kong

While Covid-19 may have wreaked havoc with our Christmas party plans, that doesn’t mean we can’t still spread some festive cheer this holiday season – and what better way to do so than with an ugly Christmas sweater or two.

Now the weather in Hong Kong is just about cool enough to actually wear them, we’ve rounded up a few of our favourite Christmas jumper designs for this festive season, including drag queens, 3D reindeer, hipster Santas, and some truly pun-derful wordplay. It really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

Binge Designs

Yas queens – ‘tis the season to slay. Christmas sweaters don’t come much sassier than this pop art-inspired RuPaul print from independent UK brand Binge Designs, available in a rainbow of fierce colours to suit every taste… and every lip sync for your life. Shantay, you stay.

Ugly Christmas Sweaters

What kind of a list would this be if we didn’t include something from Ugly Christmas Sweaters? This US company has turned ugly Christmas sweaters into an art form (and a top result on Google) – and these 3D creations, featuring a detachable cuddly reindeer bursting from the sweater’s centre, might just be the most extra of the lot. Also available in those oh-so festive other animals – a shark, unicorn and dinosaur.

Tipsy Elves

Another e-boutique dedicated to doing ugly Christmas sweaters proud, Tipsy Elves is filled with pun-tastic knitwear galore. Our personal favourite has to be this total snack of a sparkly gingerbread man sweater, with the light-up “I like big bulbs” as a close second… come on, you’re singing it already, aren’t you?

H&M

Looking for something a little more understated but still every bit as pun-tacular? This cosy knitted number from H&M ticks all our Christmas jumper boxes – and gives us an excellent excuse to bust out our best attempt at Beyoncé’s Single Ladies choreography over Christmas dinner.

Etsy

What day isn’t improved by an appearance from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson? Well, thanks to the joys of Etsy, may we present you with this fine specimen of a Christmas sweater, which combines a great pun with a great man – and it’s available in three different colourways to boot. You’re welcome (insert Moana gif here).

Batch1

You might have got the message by now – we just can’t resist a good Christmas pun. This quirky “Namasleigh” sweatshirt from independent London fashion brand Batch1 is the pun that we want this holiday season, with a playful hipster-yogi Santa print that fits perfectly with 2020’s athleisure (i.e. you’ll have to rip these sweatpants from my cold dead body, we’re never wearing tight clothes again) aesthetic.

For a knit that’s more in your traditional Christmas sweater wheelhouse but still delivers big-time on the Yuletide wordplay, check out this snigger-worthy sweater from UK brand Fashion Union – and yes, “chillin’ with my gnomies” made us laugh far more than it should have.

Merchoid

The season to be jolly it is. 2020 may have had many challenges – but at least it’s brought us a shed-load of ridiculously cute Baby Yoda merch (it wasn’t released in time last year), including this very merry officially-licensed Star Wars Christmas jumper from specialists in all things geek, Merchoid. May the festive force be with you.
