Scarlett Johannson has revealed her first-ever business endeavour. And, no surprise, it’s a beauty line.
While the glamourous Hollywood beauty hasn’t given any details on the name or the exact product offering for her upcoming beauty venture, slated to bow in early 2022, she did confess that she’s “been fascinated by the transformative power of beauty” since childhood.
“My mother instilled in me a passion for self-care from my early teenage years. Several years ago, I took a step back from my beauty deals with the goal of creating something true to me. The result is a clean, accessible approach to beauty,” Johansson continues in a statement.
The Black Widow actress won’t be spinning her business web alone.
The new beauty line – said to be worth some US$5 million to $10 million – will be co-founded by Kate Foster and funded by The Najafi Companies, the same investors behind Pattern by Tracee Ellis Ross, and Kendall Jenner’s tooth care line Moon Oral Care, as well as Beach House Group and Millie Bobby Brown’s Florence by Mills gen-Z-savvy line.
The Scarlett Johannson news comes on the back of beauty releases from a slew of celebrities in recent years including Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Miranda Kerr, the Kardashians, Drew Barrymore and Halsey, among many more.
However, in a world full of celebrity beauty brands (not to mention fashion and footwear lines), Johannson’s venture “fills a void in the market and addresses a true consumer need,” said Foster, in an interview with WWD, without specifically stating what that true need is.
Here’s hoping the Scarlett Johannson beauty line really does pack a Marvel-magic punch. And if not, there’s still the star-power that is Scarlett Johannson.
