We picked the brains of Alberto Oliveros, General Merchandising Manager at On Pedder; Laure Hériard-Dubreuil, co-founder at The Webster; and Caroline Maguire, Fashion Director at Shopbop, on what they think the latest and greatest will be for the coming autumn/winter season.
Power Suiting
“Power suiting will prove to be a big trend this fall.” – Laure Hériard-Dubreuil, co-founder of The Webster
“Think about the 80s, blazers, or oversized blazers with exaggerated shoulder pads. We’re styling it with a slogan tee underneath so it’s casual and cool; and on the bottom you can wear stirrup pants, or style with high-waisted or patchwork denim.” – Caroline Maguire, Fashion Director at Shopbop
The White Slouchy Boot
“Everybody’s so scared of white because it’s such a pristine colour and they’re scared to get their shoes or bag dirty. But at Shopbop, we have no rules. We want to wear white all year around. For fall, think beautiful patent leather, a white bootie. We’re over the over-the-knee boot, and we’re more into the to-the-knee slouchy boot. We’ll have one in a beautiful white. So fun for fall.” – Caroline Maguire, Shopbop
“White and red I keep seeing everywhere, especially in boots. It’s such a statement. Slouchy boots with embellishments and rich materials like Swarovski, embroidery and velvet.” – Alberto Oliveros, On Pedder
The Kitten Heel
“It’s a trend that’s becoming stronger and stronger. It’s like the sexy flat. Before, for a lady to feel sexy, it’s always to wear heels but that’s not true anymore. Many more ladies are wearing kitten heels and flats and looking super chic. It’s not like a few years ago when everyone was in platforms and stiletto heels.” – Alberto Oliveros, On Pedder
The Cool Puffer Jacket
“There’s this whole movement on the street chic type where you have to own a cool puffer jacket. Whether it’s a long maxi puffer jacket or a cropped one, the poofier the better.” – Caroline Maguire, Shopbop
Brand Watch
“There’s a new brand that we’re bringing called Neous. I actually found them on social media. It’s their second season, kind of contemporary, the designer used to work with Nicholas Kirkwood. Excellent price point.” – Alberto Oliveros, On Pedder
“No. 21 shoes. What’s so fun about this brand is the novelty details like the embellished slides, the ribbon details and the tie-knot in the front. It’s super chic and super fun and right up our alley.” – Caroline Maguire, Shopbop”Magda Butrym sits in our designer boutique. She’s a Polish designer, super sexy and feminine dresses but with a twist to it.” – Caroline Maguire, Shopbop
“I’m excited to see Gianvito Rossi [this season]. I always like how chic and simple his styles are. With small changes he managed to totally revamp the aesthetic of his style. I’m really excited to see Marco De Vincenzo. I’m a big fan. Also with Attico.” – Alberto Oliveros, On Pedder
Embracing the 80s
“We’re seeing such a moment of the 80s coming back with the cool puffer jacket, the slogan tees, even brands are coming back. We launched Champion, the sports brand, but our girls are wearing it not in the sporty way. They’re wearing the Champion sweatshirts with jeans. It’s the idea of these 80s iconic brands and the looks coming back that’s just so right.” – Caroline Maguire, Shopbop
