It’s been a big week for Apple with two new releases: a red iPhone and a new iPad.
The new aluminium finished phone is part of an ongoing collaboration with (RED), intended to raise awareness and funds for those affected with HIV/AIDS in Africa. A portion of the proceeds from each sale will be donated to the Global Fund. “The introduction of this special edition iPhone in a gorgeous red finish is our biggest (PRODUCT)RED offering to date in celebration of our partnership with (RED), and we can’t wait to get it into customers’ hands.” said Apple CEO Tim Cook. According to (RED) CEO Deborah Dugan, Apple is the largest corporate donor to the Global Fund, and over the past decade the tech company has contributed over US$130 million.
The latest iPad comes in at 9.7inches, and is reported to have a brighter retina display than its predecessors, and an A9 processing chip- an upgrade on the Air 2’s outdated A8x. Designed for unparalleled performance, expect the same quality camera, audio and battery life – but at a far more democratic price point.
