Fashion icon Anna della Russo

We’re pretty confident that you’ve heard about fashion icon Anna della Russo from Vogue Japan. Renowned for her daring style, we often see her in event and street style features. If you’re a fan of Anna della Russo, this is the time to show your support to the icon. Anna della Russo has just announced its collaboration with global marketplace Vestiarie Collection to sell 38 unique pieces from her personal jewellery archive online. Find out more about Anna della Russo below.

I really appreciate how your collection is a mix of designer and contemporary. This speaks of great style. How do you acquire your pieces typically? Is it at the beginning of the season? Do you shop online? Do you shop in the showrooms? Or do you like to go to the stores?

I love to buy anything that is really out there. In particular, I really like to buy product that is a one off, something that I know no one else will have. This is why I like to collect vintage pieces. I do obviously love contemporary pieces as well, for example I love all my Roberto Cavalli jewellery. I don’t like to shop only at the beginning of seasons I like to buy pieces whenever I find them, all year round. As for where I buy, everywhere! I really love finding special items and buying straight from the catwalk, the full look as the designer imagined.

How did the collaboration come about with Vestiaire Collective?

I recently came to a new chapter in my life where I realised that there was more to life than everything I owned. I had so much and truthfully, I just felt I needed to let someone else enjoy my collections as much as I have. I chose to work with Vestiaire Collective because of their collector-friendly approach to selling. I also think that allowing my pieces to be sold again means they can go back into circulation. I want to allow for a more sustainable fashion and this will help work towards this.

Do you collect vintage?

I can really appreciate vintage clothing but for me I like to focus on everything. If I only collected vintage then I would not be able to support any up and coming designers, who are the future. I like to collect everything, old and new. Another reason I chose to sell with Vestiaire, it fits my whole collection as I have a mix of vintage and contemporary pieces.

Lanvin's necklace

What is the hardest piece for you to part with?

I love it all! If I had to pick one I would have to say vintage crocodile collars. The one with blue stone I really love and is very special to me as I wore it at one of my favourite Gucci shows. I also really love my Lanvin necklace with the giant one. I just think it’s so fun and always get so many compliments when I wear it, It’s a real statement piece!

We have definitely seen you photographed in some of these items as you are very sought after for street style photos. Can you share with us some of your favourite memories with some of these pieces? It would be interesting to know what piece of history is coming with these pieces. We don’t often get this kind of storytelling when we shop.

I really love the Lanvin necklace as I wore it to the Paris Couture shows a few years back. Couture week to me is a time to celebrate crazy fashion, which I love. It also lets me live up to my streetstyle. It’s such a fun week. Also, all my big earrings, for me I think that big earrings are the best way to make a statement.

What does your closet look like? How do you keep and organize your extensive collection (Especially your jewellery and hats)

My closet was crazy! It’s more of a room as I like to keep everything out so I can see it all and know what my options are! Hats take over a lot of the space, and my jewellery as well!

Any tips on how to care for your jewellery pieces?

The best thing to do is to make sure you don’t wear the same pieces to often… that’s why I have so many pieces in the archive, and I still have enough left to not wear the same piece a lot.

What do you feel is the rule of thumb for buying vintage?

Just buy whatever catches your eye, ignore labels and brands and just buy something that you won’t be able to buy anywhere else!

Have there been any missed opportunities on items that you haven’t been able to locate and possess yet?

I almost missed out on Dress33 earring, I wasn’t sure I needed it at the time, but I released I did. Always buy something you love.

What is the best Christmas gift you have ever received?

Hard to pick one! I did love the flower cuff I received one year that’s in the sale with Vestiaire, hopefully someone else will love that this year for Christmas like I did.

Whose closet would you like to see on Vestiaire Collective in the near future?

Viviana Volpicella has an great collection! She did the shooting of my archive for my campaign with Vestiaire, she did learn from the best after all!
