As official partner of the Cannes Film Festival since 1998, Chopard not only supplies all the coveted trophies for the closing awards ceremony but also regularly adorns its most glamorous attendees in an array of dazzling jewels. The legendary event is therefore a fitting occasion for the annual debut of the maison’s Red Carpet Collection, the ultimate expression of its haute joaillerie artisans.

This year’s collection of 74 creations, corresponding to the number of years since the Cannes Film Festival first began, was unveiled by Chopard co-president and artistic director Caroline Scheufele at a majestic dinner on the pontoon of the fabled Martinez Hotel. The fanciful pieces recall a bountiful Garden of Eden with diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, rubies, coloured stones and more set onto gold crafted in the shape of delightful mystical creatures and verdant flora.

“The Red Carpet Collection always gives me the opportunity to give free rein to my creativity and this year I was inspired by the idea of Paradise: I wanted our creations to invite women on a journey towards a comforting haven, an imaginary world brimming with dreams and optimism,” Scheufele explains.

“There are various ways of envisaging one’s personal Paradise and I have tried to give life to these multiple worlds within the Red Carpet Collection through creations honouring fauna, flora and the finest gemstones, as well as by designing jewellery that is part of the fantasy of movies.”

For the collection’s big reveal, Scheufele welcomed celebrity guests including Bella Hadid, Isabelle Huppert, Eva Herzigova and Catrinel Marlon – in the “Paradise Chic” dress code and a selection of pieces from the Red Carpet, Green Carpet, Precious Lace and Haute Joaillerie collections – into an enchanting Paradise of her imagination.

Michelin four-starred Sylvestre Wahid from Sylvestre restaurant at the Grandes Alpes Hotel, and Christian Sinicropi from the Martinez Hotel’s La Palme d’Or restaurant created a multi-course dinner, which was punctuated by entertainment from famous magician David Jarre as well as a fashion show with models in Rosamosario lingerie and stunning creations from the Red Carpet Collection.

To cap off the dazzling evening, Scheufele had one final surprise: British-Lebanese artist Mika, in a colourful elephant brooch from the Red Carpet Collection, arrived by sea and suddenly emerged on the pontoon. The exclusive concert that followed lit up La Croisette and featured his biggest hits, including LollipopGrace KellyRelaxUnderwaterBig Girl and, perhaps most fittingly, Happy Ending.
