A look at the new Karl Lagerfeld Macau hotel

Jul 04, 2023

A new hotel has opened in Macau, and it’s just as stylish as one would expect from a place bearing the name of fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld

The Karl Lagerfeld Macau features 271 rooms and suites, all designed with the late designer’s vision in mind. His signature blend of cutting-edge style and cosmopolitan aesthetics is on full display here, with a rock-chic theme that seamlessly blends East and West. The entire interior of the hotel was designed by Lagerfeld himself.

Located at the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, this hotel tower is one of a kind. Lagerfeld’s bold design choices, including his use of vivid colours and tailored silhouettes, are evident across the entire property.

The hotel lobby features a Karl Kameo artwork made up of over a thousand keys, while custom hand-made Chinese-style porcelain vases from Jingdezhen are thoughtfully placed throughout the building.

The Karl Lagerfeld Macau offers a variety of dining options, including Mesa by José Avillez, located on Level 3 of the hotel tower, where guests can enjoy an authentic, contemporary Portuguese experience.

The restaurant is named after award-winning Portuguese chef José Avillez, the first chef in Portugal to have earned two Michelin stars and who is now collaborating with Mesa at The Karl Lagerfeld Macau.

The food offerings at Mesa by José Avillez can be paired with a wide wine and sake selection featuring 1,427 labels of old-world and new-world wines, ranging from “cellar extraordinary” wines to the sommelier’s recommendations.

The Book Lounge in the lobby is a visual experience, featuring more than 4,000 books selected by Lagerfeld’s bookshop. Guests can enjoy a fashion-inspired afternoon tea paired with an exclusive tea blend.

For relaxation, The Spa at the hotel tower offers a luxurious experience across six elegant treatment suites, using science-based, precision products from award-winning skincare brand 111SKIN in its Macau debut.

The hotel’s 25m temperature-controlled indoor and outdoor swimming pools incorporate traditional Chinese elements and custom mosaics. The indoor pool features oversized scalloped stone columns and an art deco motif that complements the modern space.

With cabanas and loungers where guests can bask in the sun and relax with a gorgeous view of the resort’s French podium gardens and breathtaking architecture, the pool offers an ultra- luxurious setting for any wellness retreat.
