5 things that might surprise you about BTS' Golden Maknae Jungkook

Jungkook is a singer, songwriter and member of South Korean phenomenon BTS. As the star turns 25 on September 1, we take a look at 5 different sides to his persona

The youngest member, he’s affectionately known by fans as Golden Maknae and is the centre, main vocalist, lead dancer and sub-rapper of the group. He is known for his soulful vocals and slick dance moves. A talented writer a, he co-wrote and co-produced multiple songs, including his solo hits “Euphoria” and “My Time”.

He’s a filmmaker and photographer

With his excellent eye for visuals, he loves working in front and behind the cameras. His films mainly consist of his travels, daily life and behind the scenes moments. He enjoys every step of the video production process has filmed a series called Golden Closet Films. He was also the director of BTS’s Life Goes On music video.

Apart from cinematography, Jungkook is also keen on photography. He always carry a camera along everywhere he goes, including to rehearsals and events with other BTS members.

Jungkook just released his self-produced concept photo folio as part of his birthday celebration this year, titled Me, Myself and Jungkook ‘Time Difference’. The photos are based on the concept of power. He conceptualised the theme, outfits, colour and composition of the images.

He’s considering acting

As an Idol, Jungkook has appeared in many music videos and films where he showcases his singing, dancing, and acting. He is very good at controlling his emotions and expressions in videos and performances. He can imitate other members, capturing their most significant features with his solid observational skills.

During a Q&A session with ARMYs, Jungkook was asked whether he would ever debut as an actor, where he expressed reservations about his acting skills. But with motivation from fans, he asked directors whether they would want to cast him in any roles.

He’s an artist

Jungkook has shared his artistic talent with fans through his digital illustrations and paintings. He experiments with different styles and mediums whether on iPad, canvas, or sneakers.

His favourite subjects in school were art, music and physical education. He’s a self-taught artist and watches tutorials on YouTube to hone his craft. His artworks mostly depict his experiences and daily life.

He loves sports

This youngest member of BTS loves all kinds of sports. The young idol has been spotted at various sports games and events. He is also a fitness fanatic who enjoys training at the gym.

As a child, Jungkook had aspirations to become a badminton player. However, after seeing G-Dragon, he changed his mind and wanted to become a singer instead. Other sports he excels in include running, boxing, and taekwondo (black belt). Besides his impressive physical strength, he is also good at playing video games!

He has an adventurous spirit

There is no doubt Jungkook is one of the most daring members of BTS despite being the youngest. He loves a challenge, whether it be rides, bungee jumping, or mountain climbing.

His adventurous spirit comes through in his performances and choreography Along with his physical strength, he can perform challenging dance moves on stage smoothly without fear. This is also the result of his dedication, which gives him the courage to be fearless. He always stays true to his motto: “living without passion is like being dead”.

He’s also quite adventurous when it comes to accessorising; he has a sleeve tattoo and around 11 body piercings.
