A. Lange & Söhne takes precision watchmaking to a whole new level with the Zeitwerk Honeygold “Lumen”
When you produce only a few thousand wristwatches per year, each model, movement and material used takes on added significance. Such is certainly the case for A. Lange & Söhne, which has secured its top-tier position among the world’s finest watch brands by developing 67 manufacture calibres over the past 31 years.
Among its greatest successes, besides the Lange 1 and Grand Complication, is the Zeitwerk with its three-disc jumping numerals mechanism that indicates the time in a digital format. The pioneering technical concept, with two discs for the tens and units-minutes and a large hour ring that spans almost the entire diameter of the movement, makes the Zeitwerk family one of the brand’s most progressive mechanical wristwatches since 2009.
And now, even more so with the introduction of the Zeitwerk Honeygold “Lumen”. The newly launched Zeitwerk model features a newly developed manufacture calibre L043.9 that has twice the power reserve of its predecessor at 72 hours. Also new is the pusher at 4 o’clock and an innovative design with a curved time bridge of black rhodiumed German silver.
As its name suggests, the Zeitwerk Honeygold “Lumen” also introduces A. Lange & Söhne’s proprietary honey gold for the 41.9mm case and a specially developed, semi-transparent dial that makes the luminous jumping numerals display fully visible. This is the first “Lumen” model to feature the 18-carat gold alloy with extra hardness and an inimitably warm lustre, while the light-permeable coating of the dial allows the luminous numerals that are not exposed in the aperture to absorb enough UV light and thus light energy needed to make them glow in the dark.
Adding to its exclusivity, the Zeitwerk Honeygold “Lumen” is limited to 200 pieces.
