A.Lange & Söhne takes hand craftsmanship very seriously, making even the smallest details of their timepieces by hand. The esteemed German luxury watchmaker produces only about five thousand watches a year. At Watches and Wonders 2021, they unveiled new additions to this year’s production, featuring some familiar favourites with serious upgrades.

Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar

The Lange 1 is an iconic watch with its clean aesthetic, off-centre dial arrangement, and outsize date. The Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar marks the first time in its’ nearly 30-year history that it is a perpetual calendar, featuring a new caliber L021.3 movement. It also adds a lovely moon-phase display that appears against a light blue sky during the day and a dark blue starry sky at night.

If you think the front is beautiful, take a look at the sapphire-crystal caseback, where you will see plates and bridges made of untreated German silver, gold chatons with blued steel screws, and a hand-engraved balance cock and whiplash spring.

There are two versions of this model. The pink-gold version comes with a red-brown leather strap. It features a solid silver dial and luminous hands and square hour markers. The white gold version has a brown leather strap and features a solid pink-gold dial. It will be snapped up quickly, as it is limited to only 150 pieces.

Triple Split

The Triple Split was a groundbreaking watch when it was launched in 2018. It was the first mechanical split-seconds chronograph that could measure additive and comparative times for as long as twelve hours. What is the use of such a watch, you might wonder? How about timing two opponents in a Formula One race, the Tour de France or a marathon?

Speed fiends will be ecstatic to learn of an updated 100-watch limited edition version in pink gold. This version features a gorgeous deep blue dial, a rhodié-coloured subsidiary dial and the caliber L132.1 movement.

The brand’s precision and expert craftsmanship can be seen through the sapphire-crystal caseback, which showcases the intricacies of the chronograph movement, as well as five gold chatons, heat-blued screws, Glashütte ribbing, and the hand-engraved balance cock.
