If you’re looking to splurge on your partner, we’ve curated a list of the most impressive and elegant timepieces to gift them this Valentine’s Day:
Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 Self-winding
Whilst the Code 11.59 had somewhat of a rocky landing when it debuted some two years ago, with collectors taking issue largely on its aesthetics, Audemars Piguet has proved its determination to change the minds of its skeptics by introducing design tweaks, and it appears to have worked. Among the new iterations is this Valentine’s Day-perfect Code 11.59 version, which comes with a smoked lacquered burgundy dial and a sunburst pattern base.
Last year, Bulgari breathed new life into a watch collection that it first introduced in 1998, the Aluminium watch, whose main catch was that it was a trendy sports watch (water-resistant to up to 100 metres) but also equipped with a manufacture mechanical movement. This easy-to-wear watch comes with an aluminium and titanium case, a black rubber bezel with a “Bvlgari Bvlgari” engraving and quite an attractive price point.
Romance on the wrist – this is how I’d describe Chanel’s ever-dainty Première Extrait de Camélia watch, which is inspired by Coco Chanel’s beloved flower, the camellia. The piece features a classic black dial, a yellow gold case with Chanel’s signature octagonal shape inspired by N°5’s bottle lid and embellished with a gold, diamond-set charm in the shape of a camellia.
Last year, IWC introduced new versions of the Portugieser Chronograph and one of them is this richly hued green watch in stainless steel, powered by an in-house movement which can be appreciated through the watch’s sapphire case back. And because comfort is just as important, its alligator leather strap is fitted with a newly developed butterfly folding clasp.
Up your smartwatch game with Montblanc’s Summit 2+ watch, a refined and improved version of the 2019 Summit 2 model. The 2+ model, which comes with a 1.28-inch AMOLED display housed in a 43.5mm stainless steel case, allows for the wearer to make and receive phone calls, on top of the functions tailor-made for outdoor activities. And of course, the piece is significantly handsome with the customised case made by Montblanc’s designers.
Should you want something well, more distinguished, there’s Omega’s Constellation Gent, which comes in steel, 18K Sedna gold, or a combination of both metals. We are, however, loving the latter, which is pictured here. The new 41 mm iterations give off a rather bold vibe whilst maintaining the features the Constellation is most loved for, namely its distinct claws and the half-moon facets at either end of the case.
For those not entirely comfortable with burly, robust watches, which, as we well know is a signature of Panerai watches, the Luminor Due which with its 38mm case, is for you. It is the most svelte of all of Panerai’s collections, making it easier to wear for women, or men with smaller wrists. Its case and bezel are made in Goldtech, which is beautifully polished, matching perfectly with the model’s white dial and beige Arabic numerals.
This sporty watch is great value for money with its sophisticated and vintage design, partnered with a reliable automatic movement. Royal is a name first used by Tudor in the 1950s to emphasise the superior quality of its watches and has remained an integral part of this heritage in that it offers automatic movements, integrated bracelets and are priced competitively.
