Dare to wear: Peter Pan collars

We’ve seen them everywhere – from Miu Miu and Fendi to Ganni and Cecilie Bahnsen, Peter Pan collar dresses and blouses are an enduring classic that can be embraced in so many ways.

Consider playing with sleeve proportions or adding embellishments if you want feminine flair… But for those looking for something a bit more unexpected, dare we suggest pairing with spikes, studs or combat boots? Read on for tips on how to style your Peter Pan collars:

Spikes and studs

Take some cues from British designer Alessandra Rich and her latest FW21 collection: toughen up retro elements with a hint of studs, spikes, and pointy pumps. By pairing this traditional collared blouse with a pencil skirt and pointed heels, you’ll get extra feminine flair.

High-waisted jeans

Influencer and eyewear designer Linda Tol sported a Ganni x Levi’s Peter Pan collar shirt with matching jeans in the same shade, so do the same and channel the ’70s by pairing your shirt with high-waisted and wide-legged jeans. Don’t forget stacked boots and oversized sunglasses for a finishing touch.

Puffed sleeves

We can’t get enough of rising Scandinavian star designer Cecilie Bahnsen, and we’re definitely not the only ones with a soft spot for her voluminous dresses. This black, floor-length dress with an empire waist and exaggerated sleeves feels sculptural yet effortless at the same time. Style yours with thick-soled sandals or brogues.

Combat boots

Singapore-based influencer Yoyo Cao’s Instagram page is a great source of outfit inspo, and we love how she paired a pretty Peter Pan collar dress from Fendi with a pair of combat boots. Adding footwear with a rugged, chunky sole can easily transform a dainty, delicate look to something more edgy.

Embellishments

Ella Emhoff, the stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris, stepped into the style spotlight at the 46th Presidential Inauguration in Washington DC. The 22-year-old design student paired her embellished coat with a Peter Pan collar by Miu Miu with a dainty turn lock purse and thin headband.
