At the age of 19, Nicholas Edward Choi became the youngest fencer to represent Hong Kong at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, and he describes it as one of the happiest moments of his life. The young athlete is quarter Korean, quarter Chinese and half Filipino. He was born and raised in Hong Kong and started his fencing training at the age of nine. Choi’s goal was to represent Hong Kong at the Olympics which he succeeded at. Although he retired as a full-time athlete and became a fashion influencer, in April 2021, the young athlete announced a comeback to compete in the Paris Olympics. A word of advice from Choi to any aspiring athlete is that you must enjoy what you’re doing – both the ups and the downs.
