Whisky lovers are no stranger to Glenmorangie, famous for their incredibly smooth, delicate and complex single malt Scotch whiskies. Presented in a bottle with an embossed knitted sweater look and finished in Marsala wine casks from Sicily, the whisky giant is back with a limited-edition 13-year-old single malt crafted by the brand’s Director of Whisky Creation, Dr Bill Lumsden.

A winter special, the vibrant concoction named A Tale of Winter captures the magical feeling of being cosied up while the outside world is blanketed in snow and is guaranteed to give you a truly delectable experience with its diverse array of flavours inspired by all things winter.

Great as a standalone drink, this amber coloured single malt bottled at 46% ABV rewards with an explosion of bright, colourful flavours, beginning with a curious top note of fruit, lavender honey and sweet rose that then leads into a burst of sweet and nutty flavours including cocoa dust, red pepper, brazil nut toffee and sweet barley malt. Finishing with a spicy aftertaste of swirls of cinnamon, ginger and clove, each sip will feel like a big, warm hug.

Also a great base for a series of wintry cocktails, pair this rich and fragrant whisky with Demerara sugar and a couple dashes of Angostura bitter for a glass of Glenmorangie style Old Fashioned, or with apple and lemon juice, and honey to taste for a twist on the winter favourite – Winter Apple Toddy.

Winter Old Fashion
Ingredients
50ml Glenmorangie A Tale of Winter
1 tsp Demerara Sugar
3 Dashes Angostura Bitters
Method
Pour all ingredients into glass
Stir to dissolve sugar
Fill with cubed ice
Stir to chill and slightly dilute
Glass: Old Fashion
Garnish: Cinnamon stick & orange twist

Winter Apple Toddy
Ingredients
50ml Glenmorangie A Tale of Winter
75ml pressed apple juice
25ml lemon juice
1 dessert spoon honey (to taste)
Method
Pour ingredients (except whisky) into a saucepan and bring to a simmer on a low heat. Do not allow to boil
Pour whisky into glass and top with hot ingredients
Glass: Glass mug
Garnish: Clove studded orange wheel, cinnamon stick and star anise
