On the heels of releasing the music video “Rain on Me” featuring Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga surprised fans yet again, this time collaborating with Korean mega-pop group Blackpink.
Dubbed “Sour candy,” the track fuses Gaga’s eccentric style and Blackpink’s Korean and English lyric pop approach. This is the third single from Gaga’s upcoming album Chromatica, which is set to be released on May 29. The song also marks Blackpink’s first new music since 2019’s Kill This Love EP.
In a statement to Japanese website TV Groove, Gaga said: “I wanted to celebrate [Blackpink] because they love powerful women like us, and they also wanted to celebrate me, and we had a great time together with this song… I was excited to hear them interpret the song in Korean, and told them that the part was so creative and fun.”
