Blackpink’s Jisoo is set to star in new K-drama Snowdrop this winter; here are four other South Korean shows to binge on this holiday season
The final month of 2021 has much in store for K-drama fans. From Jisoo’s debut role to the return of Velvet’s Joy and Squid Game’s Wi Ha-joon with their respective new series, here’s what to watch when you’re cosying up under your blanket in front of the television this holiday.
If you’re a fan of K-drama or K-movie, you’ll already have witnessed the chemistry between Itaewon Class star Kim Da-mi and the Parasite star Choi Woo-shik in the movie The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion. The two are working together again as a couple this December.
Slated to premiere on December 6, this romantic comedy-drama is the first original series from Studio N. It features rising stars Kim Sung-Cheol and Roh Jeong-eui. The plot surrounds former lovers who gain fame a decade after starring together in a high school documentary. If K-romance is up your alley, this will be the one to watch this winter.
Are you a fan of a psychological or a mystery drama? If so, this one’s for you. Featuring Kim Kang-woo and Soo Ae, this psychological series delves into how society pushes people to conceal their true, dark selves.
Are you still in love with Squid Game’s police Wi Ha-joon? Then here is a piece of good news for you! Wi will be in the upcoming drama Bad and Crazy, which premiers on December 17. This thriller and fantasy series stars many other top K-drama actors, including the Guardian star Lee Dong-Wook, Be Melodramatic star Han Ji-eun, and N from K-pop band Vixx.
Not only is the cast top-notch, but the plot is powerful enough to catch your attention – which depicts the story of bad and crazy detectives who fight against police corruption.
Long-waited drama with lead stars Blackpink’s Jisoo and Jung Hae-in is finally on its way. On December 18 on various platforms, including Dinsey+, this dark yet romantic series depicts South Korea in 1987 and ruled under dictatorship.
While its sensitive historical and political context has been met with some criticism, many are looking forward to seeing the romantic relationship between Jung Hae-In and Jisoo – and of course, the television debut of Jisoo!
Joy from Red Velvet takes on her first K-drama role in three years in The One and Only. This melodrama will premier on December 20 and marks a comeback too, for K-drama actress Ahn Eun-jin, who gained popularity with her role in Hospital Playlist.
