From the Omega Seamaster to the sleek Aston Martin DB5, here are the coolest gadget we spotted in the new James Bond film No Time to Die

The 25th instalment of James Bond films, No Time To Die, has finally hit the theatres after an agonising but worthwhile delay. For the last time, Daniel Craig plays the enigmatic Bond and takes audiences on rides in the iconic Aston Martin cars. Read on to find out the latest 007 gadgets the genius quartermaster Q equips Bond with. Warning: spoilers ahead*

Aston Martin DB5

No Time To Die brings back the unforgettable DB5, reminiscent of the classic Goldfinger(1964). This time, the DB5 returns with upgraded guns and even more firepower. Action vehicle supervisor Neil Layton reveals that each of the five replica stunt cars features an integral roll cage system with hydraulic handbrakes, making them sleek drifters that are both pretty on the surface and agile in action. The car’s exhaust pipe even deploys explosive bombs and smoke screens—as if the car isn’t figuratively explosive enough. “[Bond] is going to get every James Bond fan jumping out of their seats”, mused Special effects supervisor Chris Corbould. Accompanying the DB5 are Aston Martin’s new grand tourer DBS Superleggera, the classic 1980s V8 Vantage, and the upcoming mid-engine sports car developed in collaboration with Red Bull Racing. Omega Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition

Omega and James Bond’s camaraderie dates back to GoldenEye in 1995. The many iterations of the Seamaster model have come with all sorts of handy features, including a built-in laser that cuts through steel and a detachable detonator to name a few. This year’s watch, Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition, features personal input from Craig himself. The 42mm case and titanium mesh bracelet, which is fitted with an innovative adjustable buckle, is built from a strong but lightweight Grade 2 Titanium. Giving the watch a unique edge and vintage touch is the “tropical” aged brown hue of the aluminium dial and bezel ring. Craig’s character isn’t the only one sporting an Omega watch in the film; new double O agent Nomi (Lashana Lynch) wears the 38mm Seamaster Aqua Terra while Eve Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) is seen on screen with a 27.4mm De Ville Prestige.

Nokia phones

The replacement of Sony by Nokia phones came as a surprise to many, even causing debates about whether Nokia matches Bond’s exquisite taste. Featured throughout the movie, the Nokia 8.3 5G was already outdated come premiere time, so the Nokia XR20 replaced it during the promotions. The highly-touted Nokia smartphone is resistant to drops, scratches, water submersion, and extreme temperatures. The notorious unbreakable Nokia 3310 also makes a cameo, which one could argue that its long battery life and brick-like exterior perfectly complements 007’s demanding life of espionage.

Leica Q2 “007 Edition”

Fans of Leica may spot the familiar Leica Q2 in Q’s (Ben Whishaw) and Bond’s respective homes, except this one’s a little different. In celebration of the 25th Bond film, the German camera manufacturer released 250 units of an exclusive Leica Q2 “007 Edition”. Whilst the limited camera functions the same as a typical Leica Q2, mirrorless with full-frame and a Summilux 28 mm f/1.7 ASPH lens, the special edition is decorated with the Bond gun barrel design on the lens cap as well as the 007 logo on the top plate. The Ocean Green camera body is inspired by its Globetrotter case made of the same leather. Each camera is serially numbered with S/N 007 available in sequence, making the cameras all the more distinctive and valued.

Triumph motorbikes

Epic bike stunts aren’t new to the Bond-verse. Participating in the key stunt scenes in No Time to Die, including the one in which Bond is seen riding up an arch and makes a leap over a wall, were the high-performance Triumph Tiger 900 and Scrambler 1200 bikes. Lee Morrison, the film’s stunt coordinator, spoke highly of the British bikes’ agility and power. Having tested both bikes himself, the stunt coordinator raved, “[Tiger 900’s] body positioning, the footpegs, handlebars, down to the rake of the bike, even–everything is perfect.” He went on enthusiastically about the seemingly limitless Scrambler 1200 from riding it on tough terrain in Scotland to drifting in slippery streets in Italy.

In addition, the Land Rover New Defender 110 X, the Rand Rover Sport SVR and Jaguar XF cars also made it in the action-packed spy film as the villain’s vehicles. Amongst the James Bond gadgets, Craig recently revealed that his favorite is a safe-cracker machine from Sean Connery’s You Only Live Twice. He recalled that “it kind of opened doors” and “it kinda blew things up”. In his words, “Simple is best as far as gadgets are concerned.” What is your favorite gadget?
