For this month’s #100Takes, Hong Kong photographer Ivan Tong shares the beauty and value of handwritten signs in this collection of photographs titled, ‘Jewel in the Rough’.
“A jewel represents preciousness. Handwritten signage are the soul of Hong Kong streets. By capturing this priceless art form, which has been rapidly disappearing in the last decade, they can at least be preserved in my photo collection. It is my hope that we can appreciate these beautifully written signs or even the beauty of our language before it is gone.”
